      Eight-year-old Jeremiah Bentley slammed the lever of his electric wheelchair into forward and rumbled down the gravelly driveway toward the stable. With his free hand, he shielded his spectacled eyes from the blazing September sun that cast long shadows over the flat farmland of southern New Jersey.

      Hey, Jerry, watch this, his twelve-year-old brother, David, shouted as Jeremiah approached the training ring.
