      Introduction

      Congratulations! You have made the most important decision of your life. You have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and as the Lord of your life.  You have experienced the thrill—or maybe simply the quiet assurance—of being clean on the inside, free from guilt, for the first time in your life. Now what?

      Now begins the exciting, adventurous journey known as sanctification or, in other words, the process of becoming like Jesus. It is a journey that will last the rest of your life on this earth and that will take you up beautiful hills, to the tops of mountains with breath-taking views, then down again through deep and sometimes dark valleys, across wide, rugged plateaus, and into rivers and streams that will sometimes be calm, sometimes raging.
