    Karigan

A loft full of hay would not deter her from her mission. Movement was hard as she turned and twisted around, trying to find the perfect bale of hay for Bruno, her pony. Dancing around stacks was fun until her foot caught on a baseboard. Stumbling, she fell into a wall of hay teetering near the edge. Her eyes widened in horror as seven bales flew off. A loud yell from below blasted through the barn, Karigan!

She winced, glancing over the edge to see her father’s dark, shaggy hair and icy blue eyes glaring up at her. Hay covered his head and his sleeveless tunic from the bale that had broken over him. His scowl made a smile creep across her lips and a snicker escaped.

    This isn’t funny, missy!

I know, Papa, she said between giggles.
