Nightshade: Poems of Heartbreak, Love, and Lust
By Kyla Stan
()
About this ebook
Teenage werewolves, dreamy lovers, and monsters haunt this morbid collection of poems inspired by real-life events.
Stan uses creatures of the night and dark imagery to explore the dimensions of heartbreak and the forbidden subconscious, then brings the reader into the lighter side of life with love, nature, and witty story poems.
As a bonus, Stan also included poems inspired by her first young adult novel, Poet Tongue, a werewolf romance with horror elements.
So flip through the pages, cuddle with a black cat, and don't forget to put a cauldron on the stove.
For the best magick, add a sprinkle of Nightshade.
Poetry sections include topics on:
1) Heartbreak
2) Love
3) The Mind
4) Nature
5) Story Poems
6) Poems Inspired by Poet Tongue, Stan's first young adult werewolf novel

Part I: Heartbreak
Beauty That Kills
Beware the fall into aesthetic arrest.
You must stay away.
Hold yourself against
The beauty that kills.
As much as you want to
Bow down and gaze upon
Incredible beauty,
It will lead to your downfall.
As much as you want to trace
The graceful lines of the painting,
You must simply look and never chase.
And never follow the beauty into the darkness,
For it will lead you down the path of death.
Black Mask
Go on, Young Prince.
Keep believing to yourself it’s true,
That the pretty girl still loves you.
I rest and ponder,
Behind my black mask,
Obscure and wonderous like the night sky.
Hypnotized, with my chocolate eyes,
As you peer beyond my disguise.
This magick is mine.
One day, when I am ready,
I will use my powers with courage,
To enchant a new lover.
