About this ebook

The unclean spirit in Luke 11:21-26, teaches believers a lesson on how to fulfil our purpose by uniting with other believers. We can learn some WISDOM FROM THE DEMON. The demon or unclean spirit had a sense of logic, which is lost on many believers. Our homes, churches, businesses and nations would be more blessed and the Kingdom of God would have more influence on the world if we operated together.
The unclean spirit under discussion in this book, had to dwell together with other demons to fulfil its purpose. It went and invited them to come and live with it though they were more wicked. The unclean spirit teaches believers in Christ a great lesson on the need for us to be united as a Body. We cannot exercise dominion as individuals or isolated churches. The Body of Christ must unite quickly or we will lose the battle for territorial control.

    INTRODUCTION

It would be worthwhile to read the entire chapter of John 17 prayerfully to begin this book. Jesus Christ knew the state of disunity the Church would be in today when He prayed to God for us thousands of years ago. He prayed that we may be one – That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

¹  These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee

²  As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

³  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

⁴  I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

⁵  And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

⁶  I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

⁷  Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

⁸  For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

⁹  I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

¹⁰  And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

¹¹  And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

¹²  While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

¹³  And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

¹⁴  I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁵  I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

¹⁶  They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁷  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

¹⁸  As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

¹⁹  And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

    ²⁰  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

²¹  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

²²  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

²³  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

²⁴  Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

²⁵   O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

²⁶  And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

    John 17:1-26

The Psalmist underscored the essential nature of unity in Psalm 133. This Psalm is one of the Psalms called the Psalms of degrees, the Psalms of Ascent or the Psalms of brotherhood (Psalm 120-134). They were psalms with which the pilgrims came to Jerusalem, ascended Mount Zion or the steps of the Temple, with their families and friends to worship God. Their unity precipitated the blessings of God upon them.

¹ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

    ²  It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

³  As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

    Psalm 133:1-3

Jesus Christ taught His disciples how to accomplish the task of building the Kingdom of God. He instructed them to live for others, not just for themselves. He liberated His followers from individualism, isolationism, denominationalism and protectionism and implanted in them the concepts of globalisation and the Kingdom of God. He shifted their paradigm from the mediocrity of personal gain to the expanded perspective of fulfilling God’s purpose on earth.

The Oxford dictionary defines purpose as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. To accomplish one’s purpose in life, one should not live for oneself. You cannot fulfil your purpose by isolating yourself from the rest of the Body of Christ. Denominationalism cannot survive the satanic onslaught against the Church in our time. Jesus Christ said He would build His Church and the gates of hell would not prevail against it. The gates of hell can prevail against your family or denomination but not against the Church. There is a popular saying that, together we stand, divided we fall.

¹⁷  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

¹⁸  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

¹⁹  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

    Matthew 16:17-19

This book seeks to motivate the Church to stand together and build the Kingdom of God. The state of division and infighting in churches is alarming. The Bible has many examples of how purposes are fulfilled. Some of the examples are found in animals and people we don’t naturally expect to learn any lessons from. The first example I wish to mention is how a lazy person can learn diligence from the ant and be productive. The ant provides its food in the summer and gathers her supplies in the harvest.

⁶  Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

⁷  Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

⁸  Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

⁹  How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

¹⁰  Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

¹¹  So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

    Proverbs 6:6-11

Another example of how believers can learn lessons from unlikely sources is found in Jesus Christ’s admonition to His followers to be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves. Serpents are known as symbols of wisdom and cunningness. Serpents achieve their purposes with wisdom and believers have a lot to learn from them. While admonishing His disciples to be as wise as serpents, Jesus Christ also said they should be as harmless as doves. The dove is a symbol for purity and peace. He commanded His followers to be balanced in their approach to life – be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. You should have both the wisdom of a serpent and the peacefulness of a dove.

¹⁶  Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

    ¹⁷  But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

¹⁸  And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

    Matthew 10:16-18

The greatest teacher of all time, Jesus Christ, added another example to the rich list of lessons He taught His disciples in the parable of the servant who wasted his master’s goods. The servant in question connived with those who owed his master some money and reduced the figures in their favour. He undertook a joint action with his foes to gain an advantage later. Jesus Christ figuratively commended the unjust steward, saying he had acted wisely. He observed that the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

¹  And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.

²  And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.

³  Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.

⁴  I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.

⁵  So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?

⁶  And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.

⁷  Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.

⁸  And the lord commended the
