Umbrella Smiles - Thomas Gerritsen
Prologue
I am a man of faith filled with love & light. I found the very core of my heart & soul and that is romance. Love is romantic, nature is romantic, and life is romantic. I believe the deeper you know yourself the more likely you are to find your calling in life and what truly makes you happy. Writing for me is a pleasure that I can’t go without, and I find that poetry is the freest and most beautiful way to say anything. I like all forms of poetry; however I am more inclined to simple rhyming and structure. The following poems are a mixture of truth with imagination; I just go wherever my thoughts take me. My hope is to just spread beauty and positivity. Art is wonderful to be inspired by, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share these poems with you. I hope you all enjoy my first book. It is a dream come true.
Truth
thank you
for this love,
all the stars
up above,
the warmth
in my heart,
and the truth,
from the start..
Burst
sunshine
came to nights
walking through my door.
she bursts
with light stored
inside,
energy to be -
more than asked.
bask,
in brightness of days..
Brook
country meadows,
eyes
filled with sunshine,
rivers
long & deep.
read.
she does slowly,
passionately,
brooks of a book..
New
how the rain came,
steady
and soothing
a day in June:
wonder
with the sound of thunder.
she swoons
in summer’s spark.
every storm,
the start of something new..
High
lightning
becomes them.
strike
the nights & day.
stay
with eyes of glow.
slow
and sure the dance.
romance,
sent from high skies..
Gifts
and the light
flows through:
bloom
all the beautiful buds
and grow
the wildflowers so
bountiful.
rise the prize of life
thrive,
with all the little gifts..
Anchor
laughter
to all my days.
the anchor
to set my way
on course.
her source of inspiration,
admiration
is what I have,
and wings to give.
I do,
for her to fly high..
Page
start
the gentle stroll,
caress
pages of the soul
and turn
thoughts of mind
so sublime,
the sweetest serenade
spoken,
to the heart.
Tower
hands
in touch,
a land of smiles
and for miles
the tower rises.
umbrellas
left to the rain.
fluffy
are the clouds that pass
way up
