About this ebook

ZINGARA Tale of a Feisty Gypsy (Youth Fiction)

Summer Harbour, Ontario, Canada 1863.

Lilian is the type of girl who tries to keep to herself, but the large scar running down her face and her tendency to have tantrums or ‘wobblies’ as she calls them, make her stick out like a sore thumb. Not to mention that she is living with a clan of thieving gypsies that think she’s rotten goods because she cannot cast a spell, let alone become a great fortune-teller like her Mother.

When she goes off and meets a local farm boy, Lillian is shocked that he doesn’t call her worm face like the other children and even more surprised when he tells her that she’s beautiful. With the possibility of a forbidden love, Lillian begins to wonder if her dreams of living a quiet life in the country could actually come true but Ted, the new leader of the clan, has other more sinister ideas for Lillian’s future.

Charlene Forrest

Charlene Forrest lives and works in the Greater Toronto Area but grew up in the small town of Goderich, Ontario that she still considers home. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Ryerson University, a diploma in Health Sciences from Mohawk College and has worked as a Clinical Supervisor for a Foster Care agency for the past eight years. Providing support and counsel to many families, children and youth is a career she loves and feels that she often learns more from her clients about life than she can impart to them. Charlene has been writing stories for many years. Tales that are inspired from her own tumultuous life and from the youth she has met through her work in health care, education and social welfare. After losing a parent to cancer and getting divorced, Charlene finally decided it was time to share the stories that she has carried in her head for so long. ZINGARA is the first book in the Summer Harbour Series and she is currently working on the second with more to come!
