This brings about challenges that can be skillfully turned into opportunities.

Over the past few years, digital marketing methods that businesses and website owners use to market and sell their products and services have grown and developed at an accelerated pace. New SEO methods are being proliferated and I'm sure each year will bring innovative new strategies and methods. What will digital marketing look like in 20 or 30 years?

    Why am I writing this?

This e-book is a combination of personal notes taken about off-site search engine optimization and a compilation of blog posts that I’ve written over the past few months about off-page SEO on my blog Oneseo.net/blog. I have combined these as a guide to understanding off-site SEO in the simplest of forms.

    Why SEO Matters

Anyone that stumbles into the world of online content is immediately lambasted with the acronym SEO. SEO, SEO, SEO!

What does it stand for? What does it mean? Why does it even matter?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. It is the way a website is optimized to allow its content to appear in search engines.

While it may sound like a lot of technical jargon, it is incredibly important if you want people to find your website and avail of your products and services. Without website views, you won’t sell your product. If you are not showing up in search engines, I can guarantee your potential customers will go somewhere else. Still unsure why search engine optimization is crucial to success? Let’s look at four reasons why SEO matters.

SEO works to make sure your website appears in Google search results – and that it is among the top results. However, it is not an easy task to get your website to rank high in search result pages. Why? Well, Google closely guards its SEO algorithm and changes it often. Therefore, it is important to learn as much as you can (or hire a professional) to help you identify what you need to do to make sure your website appears in the coveted Google searches.

For instance, statistics show that most people do not even go past the first page of a Google search. This means if your website has not been optimized for search engines, there is a very real possibility that your website will not be found – even by those searching for your products and services.

    Keyword Searches Matter

An essential part of SEO is finding the right keywords. This means researching the main keywords that are related to your website content. Once you have identified the main keywords people use to search online for your product or service, then work on finding ways to include these keywords within the content of your web pages.

This may mean hiring content writers that specialize in SEO writing and know how to seamlessly embed keywords naturally. These writers also understand optimal keyword density – the number of times a keyword should appear on your web page in comparison to other terms. You want
