About this ebook
Running from Indians is not my favorite past time. Watching my few cows disappear into ravine that turns into a cave didn't make my day. Riding off a cliff into a river really ruined it. The valley was immense, and not a sign of people anywhere. Even the sky looked wrong at night.
After a year I heard a scream. By time I got to the river they were leaving. With nothing to do, I hung around. Little did I know what fate had in store for me when Kat and the girl came back out of the cave with bundles of equipment.
It took years to find the cave that led back to my world. I could not take my horse. I had to walk out through Indian territory.
Over the years more people came out of different caves, and started their own villages. Most good, one downright evil.
None of us were aware of the rules running this place. After contact with some really bad men I found out the hard way. The enforcers pressed me into a job I didn't want. To my surprise, Kat abandoned the two most important things in her life to follow me.
Stephen Brandon
I've loved westerns and science fiction since I picked up my first book at the public library. I've been writing on my computer for years. I never planned on any of my stories being published, just to be read by myself, family, and friends. The base journal is on forty spreadsheets with links to about a thousand files of short one day paragraphs plus other stories. {My claim to fame, written by someone else. Thanks.} "As an earthbound retiree, Stephen writes mostly science fiction and short stories. He is a voracious reader and has written for a few years, publishing his stories on Smashwords."

Acknowledgments
The first group that I acknowledge are the teachers. The good ones cultivate the young minds and start them on a crusade for knowledge.
The second group are the librarians. They are the escort and custodians of knowledge.
The third group, and all are of equal importance, are the readers. Whether for pleasure or in search of knowledge, they are the people that make writing worthwhile.
My wife has put up with me for over forty eight years. Without her support and love I don't know who, what, or where I would be, so I thank her from the bottom of my heart!

Katleen received word through one of her informants that someone looking like her was admitted to the hospital. That evening as she slips into the back of the hospital, she spots two criminals she knows. As she pulls her revolver they spot her, and start firing. Her shots are far more accurate, and they fall to the floor. One manages to get a last shot off. As she passes out she sees white coats headed her way.
In ER, a nurse getting off duty recognizes them that she is a patient, and she should be room 412. The bullet passed through her right breast and left a
