      Os elementos góticos e a mistura que estes têm com o amor entre Heathcliff e Catherine provocam muitas dúvidas, se de fato há ali amor ou se é apenas sentimentos mútuos de posse e obsessão. Personagens que são odiosos, cruéis, egocêntricos e orgulhosos, uma história de amor, mas não sobre amor, e sim sobre dependência mútua e toxicidade, um livro em que os piores traços dos seres humanos vem a tona.

      I know it was well written, but I must admit I didn't particularly enjoy it. I found most of the characters irritating and found it difficult to find a way in to their way of thinking.

      Am I wuthered? Say no more. My theory has always been that Heathcliff is no gypsy child but Kathy's illegitemate brother. Think about it...It makes sense.

      I have no idea how this is a love story. Both main characters are arrogant, selfish people and the only decent person in the book is treated like dirt. Horrible book.

      GAH! Pretty much disliked this one, manic depression and child abuse rolled into a package that seriously had my teeth on edge.I prefer Daphne du Maurier for the same kind of atmosphere and would much rather lose myself in a Jane Austen for a period piece.

      I don't know. This is another "classic" I was told I had to like, but honestly, it's never done much for me. Frankly, I'm not a fan of the period and if I had to choose, I really prefer Charlotte over Emily... For those who love this era's literature, recommended. Not my cup of tea though...

      Had to read this in high school. Was not impressed. Honestly? Just found the whole thing depressing and a slog to get through. I can appreciate the skill that went into writing it and I understand it's a classic, but I personally didn't enjoy it.

      Wuthering Heights is known as a gothic romance. I do not consider it a romantic story. It is dark, and "disagreeable", and utterly fascinating. It is difficult to feel sympathy for any of the characters, yet the story stays in your mind long after you finish it. What was this character's motivation? Why did that happen? What if.... Could it be.... One is compelled to reflect on human nature and the author's goals in telling the story.

      I enjoyed the book as much as I enjoy a lot of 19th century literature but I can't say I warmed to the main characters Cathy and Heathcliff. I felt that they had no redeeming qualities whatsoever! The secondary characters are what made the book for me. I couldn't see the torid romance that everyone else describes.

      This is my second time read of this great epic and it's still very impressive. Nowadays everyone loves dark tales, this story of Heathcliff and Catherine is as dark as a tale can get. "A love so dark that it destroyed everyone it touched".

      I was enchanted by the dark romance of this novel. The characters were well developed and showed true human form: they were bitter, malicious, selfish, lusty. I was drawn into the story -wanting to know if they would ever be redeemed of their evil natures. The somewhat sad ending only caused me to love the novel more. I really enjoyed reading Wuthering Heights.

      Definitely a love story, if not a romance novel, this book shows how an obsessive love drives these rude and manipulative characters to a long string of despicable actions.

      A man obsessed with his childhood friend spends his lifetime destroying her family.3/4 (Good).This is a wild ride. It's a continuous stream of Big, Dramatic Scenes. There's no protagonist, and consequently no satisfying story arc, which normally would be guaranteed to make me dislike a book. But in this case, it works somehow.

      The last time I read this was for a class in college, so it was different from previous readings. I did find it more interesting because of the analysis that went into it. I was struck by how much of a love story it isn't, even though it is billed as one of the greatest love stories of all times. Heathcliff and Catherine were selfish and foolish...it was more tragic than beautiful.

      This is probably one of my favorite gothic romances. Cathy and Heathcliff's relationship envelopes their lives, and even surpasses death--especially when Cathy dies, and Heathcliff digs up her grave, (he sees her as she once was, but in reality he's caressing a corpse) and her calling out to him from the moors as a ghost -- really creepy, yet wonderful and beautiful.

      This is my all time favourite book! It contains every genre - romance, mystery, supernatural, discrimination and differentiation of class, status quo, psychology...I even included a quote from this on my wedding candle: "Whatever souls are made of, his and mine are the same".

      Catherine and Heathcliff fall in love when they are children, but because of thier differnet status in society thier love is forbidden. Thier love goes beyond the grave.

      I enjoyed this book. I think of the books we read in school this one was the best book i have read in my school life. I loved how older Cathy's life was about the same as young Cathy's, and the book changed with every page that you turned. At first i did not enjoy it. But, it got better as the book went on.

      This book has so much hype so I expected it to be amazing. Boy was I let down! I didn't really care for this book at all. And people say Heathcliff and Catherine's love was so epic, but he was a horrible person who did nothing but torment others. I don't know, maybe I just didn't get it, but I wasn't impressed in the slightest.

      I have a real love/hate relationship with this well-known classic. Part of me thinks it's incredibly romantic, in a dark way, and part of me thinks it's simply overdramatic. Heathcliff is at first appealing and sympathetic and then becomes a complete villain. Everyone else is insipid. All of this is forgivable. My real problem with the book is the phonetic dialogue of a provincial accent. It renders one open to migraines. I still recommend it. Choose a stormy day to read it.
