It is written by Michael Savage who hosts a controversial talk radio program. The book is a condemnation of the name-calling and alarmism that is rampant in political discussions. Savage, a bestselling author of many other books (including God, Faith, and Reason), makes a survey of public hysteria in the past. He cites the witch trials in Salem and compares these to panic incidents over Russian interference, climate change, President Trump, guns, among others. He says creating mass hysteria is a method used by the Left to incite restlessness among Americans. He warns that mistakes of the past will be replayed if people do not understand their history.
Since President Trump assumed office in the White House, a boiling point in politics has occurred, according to the author. Flashpoints in political discussions have become loud, in issues concerning economics and national security. The media and political enemies, as well as street protesters, have contributed to the derangement of the collective body, a situation which Savage calls mass
