    The dripping. The dripping is the first thing I remember about the cave. Such a mundane little thing, considering everything else around it. Drip. Drip. Drip. I could never tell where it was coming from. Not just because the echoes were crazy, either. I never saw any pools, or even any puddles.

    When I think back now, it’s a wonder I saw anything at all. It’s not like I was carrying a flashlight, or a lantern. I didn’t even have a makeshift torch. And the sun, well, the sun was never going to reach down where I was.
