    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I DON’T THINK that this book would be complete without acknowledging the godly personalities that made it possible.

I highly appreciate the wonderful men and women of the likes of Evang. Patrick Okereke and Apostle Smith Kalu who stepped into my life at various seasons of my life; even those who impacted my life in various ways without a physical contact. I have had sons of men prophesy positively into my life. They are all godly Destiny Helpers.

I won’t fail to thank Rev. Albert Nwadike of the Anglican Diocese of Orlu, Nigeria. Daddy, I confess that mummy’s prophetic ministry has great impact to my prophetic destiny.

It’s a true saying that Blood is thicker than water. Many of us are where we are today because of the prayers and help of our family. Even if God pardons me, my conscience won’t, if I forget to appreciate my family members and relations who made this book possible in a time like this. Blood, I appreciate!

And most importantly, let’s give a standing ovation to the greatest personality on earth. Words would fail me to describe how our journey had been on earth. Dear Gentle, Sweet, Friendly, Wonderful, Precious, and ever Understanding Holy Spirit, I can only express through tears of joy, how you picked up and dusted a mere mortal like me. I vow to introduce you to my dying world.

    FOREWORD

THE WAY ONE responds to tragedy and challenges that come our way in life can make or mar the person. Turning stumbling stones into stepping stones does not come easy, but do so position a person to take on life bravely.

The demise of Chief Dr. Paul C.O. Umejiego (OON) was a hard hit to the family, relations and friends. He was such an Icon of integrity, love, hard work, fear of God, determination and focus. He was a mentor per excellent every child was very special to him. Everyone was so dear. The experience of the death of such a father is traumatizing to his children.

It is encouraging that Victor Febechi Umejiego has come up with a good reflective and thoughtful piece of writing of the last days of Chief Dr. P.C O Umejiego. The book In View Of Eternity: Revelations Surrounding My Father’s Life And Death is apt and draws us to ponder on the purpose of life. In the book, Febechi tries to call our attention to that which he thinks is paramount in life living with eternal perspective. He tries to point out that every other achievement in life pales in significance to life in eternity. In trying to buttress his point he used the illness and consequent death of his father to demonstrate that it is very important that someone with good health should live to glory God, have heaven in view because there comes a time that one cannot do anything about his life.

Most times men spend time in earthly pursuits but the irony of life is that there comes a time when we are oblivious of what we have acquired when we are hanging unto life. At this point one is not able to decide how his wealth can be used on his behalf but he is left at the mercy of others. Febechi and other family members saw his father struggling for life at the hospital bed and could not even suggest what should be done for him whether to move him from the hospital or that he should be left. All the decisions were left for others to take. We all have a sense of helplessness especially at the cross roads of life.

The death of Pa P.C.O Umejiego taught him one important value in life which is: total submission to the will of God. In his words, he discovered the hard way, that God’s will may not necessary be as we want it. He wanted his father to live but later discovered that he was working against God’s will for the father. While he wanted his father to live, it was the will of God for his father to return home. He struggled much with this thought until it dawned on him that he was operating in the flesh and not in the Spirit. It took humility for him to accept the death of his father and that there is nothing he can do about it. God does his things according to His will and He is not at our beck and call as we choose.

This book is timely as we need to live for what counts especially as Christians. Most times we chase shadow forgetting what counts before God. We behave like Martha who was distracted by many things. Only one thing matters and that is heaven. All our pursuits in life should have eternity in view. We invite you to read this thought provoking book. May God draw us to Himself and make us focus on things that matters to Him. May we live with God’s purpose and finish well in this race of life no matter how or when that end comes. God Bless you.

    INTRODUCTION

IN THE MIDST of the entire life and death struggles of my father, I was so much concerned on what to tell my dying world that needs hope and encouragement; even as I know for sure that Christianity is of successive victorious testimonies and not of defeat.

Five days to the glorious transition of my father I found myself in a prayer camp, and the fifth day after his demise, the heavens became open unto me and inspiration came forth to write this book. I saw a vision of the number twenty two on the Saturday my father died, and throughout the period, I just kept asking myself the meaning of the number. Four days later I was in the study when I noticed the heavens open and the inspiration and mandate for this work came forth. Immediately, I was told to check the date and was amazed when I discovered that it was the morning of the twenty second day of the month.

I wrote the most part of this book within three weeks from the day the mandate came forth: this is a sign that the content of this work was divinely inspired.

I believe that an important part of the process of dealing with the death of a loved one is honouring that person’s memory in a special way. But I didn’t just write this book to honour my beloved father’s memory.

One day the Lord quickened Luke 12:48 to me, trying to let me know that I have to deposit to my world in proportion to what He has put within me. The insight I gave to people around me after my father’s demise made eternity more real to them. Through this book I give out to my dying world. I pour out my heart through personal and corporate experiences, knowledge, revelations and visions of the Lord; I show us a mystery.

While growing up, am always afraid when a rich and affluent individual around me dies: the fear is about where the person would spend eternity if life in eternity after death is real; not to even mention of how the individual will be greatly missed by loved ones and how his material possession would be left for others ― for truly we came into this world empty of material abundance and we are to leave empty. It all means that if I eventually become wealthy in life, I would through death part with my possessions and still won’t know what awaits me in eternity. After my encounter, I got a strong key that made me never be afraid of death nor of life after death.

We should all note this one thing from the parable of the rich man told by Jesus Himself (Luke 12:16-21): He became poor for us that we may become rich (despite His poorness, the scriptures even made us know that material ’needs’ were at His command) and therefore He was concerned about men having material possessions and are not rich towards God, and not that He is against being affluent in life.

To be physically and spiritually rich on this present earth and at the end escape eternal damnation, man must live with double sided mindset: living with the consciousness of the physical and spiritual realms; and with the consciousness of this present world, and of that to come. By the partnership of the Holy Spirit, through the revelations and testimonies shared in this book, am sure to help activate this survival mindset.

I am full of joy and so excited to present this book to my readers so that we can all fulfil purpose on earth in spite of all satanic oppositions and live our lives in consideration of where we will spend in eternity. IT’S IN VIEW OF ETERNITY!

    CHAPTER 1 - DEATH STRUGGLES

    The Curse of Death

    The Resurrection of the Dead

    He Struggled Not To Go

    We Lost Him

    The Curse of Death

DEATH IS THE cessation of life and all associated processes, when one is cut off from this material world.

Adam disobeyed the commandment of God, and because of this reason, God pronounced on mankind the curse of death.

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

    — Genesis 3:19

We have put on corruption or mortality by the reason of the fall. Our bodies are now vulnerable to death by aging, sickness, injury, and wound.

When Adam sinned he died spiritually. God was speaking about the death of his inner man or spirit man (this is who he really is)—the eternal spirit. Spiritual death doesn’t mean that our spirits are no more in existence. The death caused separation from God Who is Our creator and source of life.

But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

    — Genesis 3:3

Adam’s relationship with God changed after he disobeyed the commandment; then, Christ came to bridge the gap between us and the father.

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

    — 1 Corinthians 15:45

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

    — Romans 5:10

Adam transgressed and was kept in bondage of fear of death by Satan. Satan uses fear to control those under him. Our Lord Jesus Christ came to give us hope, through resurrection and eternal life. And, through our acceptance of the offer of salvation through Jesus, the Father sends to us His spirit to help us as sons.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    — Romans 6:23

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

    — Hebrews 2:14, 15

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

    — 1 Corinthians 15:21-22

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

    — 1 Thessalonians 4:13

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

    — Romans 8:15

No child of God should fear death. Christ paid the price on the altar and cross of Calvary to deliver mankind from the fear of death. Fear is one of the means by which the devil uses to intimidate and harass men. From the time I gave my heart to Jesus, I have come to the complete understanding of a scriptural truth: that for us to fear death means that we are not sure of our salvation, and of what Christ did for us.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

    — Matthew 10:28

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

    — 2 Timothy 1:7

Satan has no power to take anyone out of this world, unless he obtains permission from God. Most of the believers who die are those that their lifetime on earth has expired, or those that have completed their assignments. Another group, are those whom God turned His back on, because they refused to repent and accept His grace upon their lives, to fulfil their destinies. There are also many other reasons.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

    — Job 2:6

It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

    — 1 Corinthians 5:1-5

When believers die, they go to be with the Lord.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is

the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith.

    — Philippians 1:21-25

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

    — 2 Corinthians 5:8

We will no more be susceptible to death any longer when we will be resurrected at the last day.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

    — Romans 5:12

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

    — 1 Corinthians 15:54-57

We have two stages of death: The first death and the second death.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

    — Revelation 20:6

The first death is the death of the flesh—the one we all see now.

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.

    — 1 Peter 3:18

The second death is the damnation into the lake of fire.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

    — Revelation 21:8

Anything that is said to cause death now just means a thing that severs our spirits from our bodies.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

    — James 2:26

Death is caused by many natural ways: aging, sickness, injury, wound, etc. It is also caused by spiritual ways: the death is projected spiritually, and in most cases, there will be a natural manifestation, which makes blind men to think that it is a normal death.

I don’t think that there is anything like the angel of death. Throughout the scriptures, if God wants to kill, He uses His angels.

For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle .

    — Exodus 12:23, 29

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come...

    — Joshua 5:13, 14

And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

    — Acts 12:21-23

So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men. And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

    — 2 Samuel 24:15-16

The Satanic world also sends demons that cause death. A coffin is a familiar and usual depiction of death in the realm
