Bible Promises for Teachers - Karen Moore

    Future

Henry B. Adams said, A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell, where his influence stops.

Certainly, it was the intention of Jesus to affect eternity. His words and influence changed lives in ways that few of us can fully understand. Yet, He was able to cause transformation by accepting people right where they were and loving them into the kingdom.

As a teacher, you have a similar opportunity. You are surrounded by students who come to you poised to learn, whether they know they need to learn or not, coming to you just as they are, needing acceptance and affirmation. You are in a position of influence and you help to mold and shape the future.

Your position is not one that God takes lightly. He seeks the best from you as you guide those He entrusts to your care. You’re His light, for some, the only light they will come to know and so He offers you strength, assurance, and helpful hints to keep in mind as you teach.

This book uses Scripture to reflect some of the ways Jesus demonstrated ideas and object lessons, how He built followers with love and by being a godly example. You’ll see the promise God offers to be near, close by to encourage your work and lighten your load. You are a blessing to others and this book is designed to bless you as you inspire, teach, and lead.

Know that your work is important to each student who crosses your path and to God who created you for His divine purpose. You have no way of knowing how your influence affects eternity.

    May God bless you abundantly.

Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men, Jesus told the weary men who had not caught a thing that day.

What an invitation! A fisherman was supposed to catch fish, supposed to feed others by what he brought in, supposed to make a living by casting a wide net. It sounds like a good description for a teacher, doesn’t it? Isn’t that the work of someone who casts a vision, a net of possibility, a hope for tomorrow? You are the one who fishes your students out of the place they were and casts them into tomorrow. You are the one who helps them to see that there is more to life than what they might see now. You cause them to try again when they are weary of trying.

Jesus taught men of His day, and He still teaches any of us who are willing to listen and follow His example. He teaches us that there is more, that possibility is always ours because we serve the God of what is possible and not what appears in the present.

Your students need a master teacher. They need someone to look up to, to ask questions of, and to stretch them to become more. As you follow the wisdom and light of Jesus, you bring them closer to all that He would have them be.

Keep casting your net for there is much work to be done.

    The Bible Promises . . .

    God Teaches the Right Way

Listen and hear my voice. Pay attention and hear what I say. Does the plowman plow every day to plant seed? Does he continuously break up and cultivate the soil? When he has leveled its surface, does he not then scatter black cumin and sow cumin? He plants wheat in rows and barley in plots, with spelt as their border. His God teaches him order; He instructs him. ~ Isaiah 28:23–26

    Listen

This is My beloved Son; listen to Him! ~ Mark 9:7

    Teach God’s Ways

Instruct them about the statutes and laws, and teach them the way to live and what they must do. ~ Exodus 18:20

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach him how to fish and he will eat forever. ~ Author Unknown

    Sharing God’s Voice

Jesus answered them, My teaching isn’t Mine but is from the One who sent Me. ~John 7:16

    Walk in His Paths

And many peoples will come and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about His ways so that we may walk in His paths. For instruction will go out of Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. ~ Isaiah 2:3

    Do Not Be Deceived

Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, rooted and built up in
