Read More About Patreon here EVne.ws/patreon   Read today’s show notes on https://www.evnewsdaily.com   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 16th January 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I’ve been through every EV story I can find today, and picked out the ones I think you need to know about.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   My news yesterday that I had quit my day job, and indeed a 25 year radio career, seemed to resonate with people. Either those who had done something similar to chase a dream or those who wanted to.   So to those on Patreon…   JON BEARDY MCBEARDFACE (PARTNER) ASHLEY HILL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LAURENCE D ALLEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) WALTER MACVANE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JON KNODEL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BORISLAV BORISOV (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) SEIKI PAYNE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JEFF ERBES (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER)   WILLIAM ANZUETO (PRODUCER) PETE GORTON (PRODUCER) i3 AND 7KW OF PV! MARK GARNETT (PRODUCER) STE BIRKETT (PRODUCER) – FOUND ME RECENTLY MARTY YOUNG (PRODUCER)   BRUCE HARRISON R W SAVAGE     CLARIFICATION ON THE HARLEY DAVIDSON LIVEWIRE From Sabrina Giacomini at RideApart.com: "However, in recent years, innovation hasn’t been part of the brand’s lingo—its almost as though it’s been sitting on its legacy and relying on that and only that to sell bikes. The LiveWire had the potential to change that and open new doors. While it hasn’t completely failed, I don't believe it has succeeded either. The way I see it, there are 2 reasons for that and here's my two cent about it." So what are those two reasons? And is one of them the range which I told you was my main let down. "Today, people have access to more electric models options than ever and while 110 miles is a decent range for an electric bike, it might not be enough for the LiveWire to stand out of the stylish, efficient, and affordable electric motorcycle crowd. Because now we all know: an electric orange comes at a price. The company announced on Monday that the LiveWire was on track to hit the showrooms this year and that the price tag would be set at $29,799. With young adults dealing with more debt than ever, $30k will be better spent on purchasing a car (or groceries) than a bike." "The company did have the opportunity to bring Alta Motors on board, a well-established competitor in the field of electric bikes that likely would have propelled H-D forward in its electric ambitions. Would a partnership have resulted in a cheaper LiveWire? Maybe not, but Alta's contribution to the project could have meant a sweeter deal for the money." So i got it wrong with 59 miles, I don't think i was looking at the correct number. The Harley website says: "The high-voltage battery, or RESS, provides an estimated 110 miles of range, measured using the MIC mixed-use cycle. Riding range estimates based on current SAE testing of LiveWire concept motorcycle. Actual riding range will vary based on several factors including weather and driving conditions."   https://www.rideapart.com/articles/300795/weekend-wtf-harley-davidson-livewire/   https://www.harley-davidson.com/gb/en/motorcycles/future-vehicles/livewire.html   LYNK & CO'S HATCHBACK DROPS MAJOR CAMO IN NEW SPY PICS "Lynk & Co is progressing with the development of its fourth model which will take the shape of a compact hatchback. This fresh batch of spy photos reveals the company is in the advanced stages of testing as its prototype is featuring less and less camouflage." reports Anthony for Motor1.com: "According to unconfirmed information, the model will be based on the architecture that will also underpin Volvo’s upcoming revamped 40 series of compact cars.
