His flipped classroom approach, which has evolved over the years to focus on peer instruction, has been featured on ESPN and NPR mainly due to his iTunesU General Chemistry course, which has an enrollment of over 210,000 students. He is also a contributing author to the "Chemistry the Central Science" textbook, is a recent recipient of The Ohio State University Provost’s Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer and is an Apple Distinguished Educator (Class of 2013).
