Jan Bauer is a Zürich-trained Jungian analyst, author, and lecturer in private practice in Montreal, Quebec.Born and raised in the United States, she attended the prestigious Sarah Lawrence College in New York then went on to study in Paris where she graduated from the Sorbonne in 1967. After returning to the US, she earned a master’s degree in adult education from Boston University then taught at the high school level in France and Tunisia.She then moved to Switzerland, where she lived for nine years and underwent analytic training at the C.G. Jung Institute Zürich, earning a Diploma in Analytical Psychology in 1981. After relocating to Canada, she began practicing as a Jungian analyst in Quebec which she continues to do to this day.Ms. Bauer was a lecturer at the University of Montreal, and served as Chairperson of Admissions and Director of Training for the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts. She is also past president of the Association of Jungian Psychoanalysts of Quebec.She is the author of two books, Alcoholism and Women: The Background and the Psychology, published by Inner City Books in 1982, and Impossible Love or Why the Heart Must Go Wrong: The Hidden Meaning of Love’s Disasters, published by Spring Publications in 1993.
