A series of 5-7 minute documentaries on the lives and trades of craftsmen and women across England and Wales

who continue to work with the most basic of tools; their hands.
The Artisan Series will consist of 4 films, each looking into the lives of a unique Artisan in their respective field: Pottery, Carpentry, Glass Blowing, and Chocolate Making. Unlike most documentaries on Traditional Trades, which usually discuss and explain the skillset, these films will give the audience a unique insight into the Artisans life and experiences through. Traditional Trades are commonly referred to as a lost art. Todays modern infrastructure and production techniques have effectively silenced the production of hand-made goods. The skills live on in a few dedicated Artisans, who strive to pass on age-old techniques to the younger generation. The films will be shot on Canon DSLRs, cut with Final Cut Pro, and outputted in a 2.35:1 Aspect Ratio for streaming on Vimeo and submission to Film Festivals. To achieve the maximum audience, Social Media will be exploited to its fullest extent. A Facebook page will be produced, as well as a Twitter account. Similarly, a fully unique website will be created, which will give audiences a little insight into the technical aspects, and talent that will be featured. The budget for these films is 500. This will cover all expenses that may be incurred, website creation; design, hosting & URL, and technical equipment that may be required. The turnaround for these films is 4 months, and is set to be released this September on the internet, and submitted to Film Festivals for spring 2013.
