Food Security

Food security is defined as when everyone on the planet has access to safe, sufficient and nutritious food all the time, in order to maintain a healthy and progressive life.

The food is the basic need of life and access to it is the right of every citizen. It is the responsibility of the government of Pakistan to ensure food security among the people Pakistan is a country where agriculture is a dominant factor in the economy. In spite of this fact, it is getting focalized on the lack of food due to insecurity situations are so many factors which cause this insecurity including poverty; which results in weak agricultural value chain, unavailability of fertilizers, lack of support for agro-mechanical technologies, over population, unprecedented disasters caused by floods and climate change. Equity of food distribution should be guaranteed by the authorities through policy changes. It could be done if both the people and government make combined efforts to make the economy secure which consequently gives us sustainable food productivity. This would be possible when large fields are employed to be cultivated, water supply is managed accordingly and the most important is to interdict the feudal system, which has being the dominating factor in the rural areas of Pakistan. Today the world is being compelled to confront the bitter realities of food scarcity. Profiteering tendency of the global food producers and distributors at the cost of peoples survival is bound to create social and political upheaval. This is a ground cum harsh reality which the businessmen and policy makers have chosen to ignore so far.

In the words of Josue de Castro Hunger is exclusionexclusion from the land, from the income, jobs, life and citizenship. When a person gets to a point of not having anything to eat, it is because all the rest has been denied. This is a modern form of exile. It is death in life.
