HOW DALAT GOT ITS NAME

PLOT

Dalat is a peaceful town ruled by a good and wise chief. The chief has three sons: Galau, Umat and Lutong. Galau, the oldest is wise and just. Umat is brave but hot-blooded. Lutong the youngest,is patient and fair. On his deathbed, the old chief calls his sons together and advises them to rule well. When the chief dies, the elders of the village choose Galau to lead them. Umat is unhappy because he thinks he should be chief. Lutong supports Galau. Umat and Galau go to war and many die, including Umat. As flies swarm about the dead, Galau orders the town to be named Dalat which in Melanau means flies.

Jamal decides it is time to get married and asks his mother to find him a bride. Wedding preparations are set in motion and Jamal finds he needs money. So he prepares a budget and find ways to raise the money to meet the expenses. When he realizes he wont be able to get a bank loan, he borrows money from his mother. Still short, Jamal further revises his budget and suggests the family replace the bunga telur with Hacks sweet. This raises objections from his mother and sister. Jamal then sells his Bally shoes to his cousin. On the eve of the wedding when it is time for the dress rehearsal, Jamal finds he has no shoes to wear.
