Introduction Gross domestic product refers to the market value of all officially recognized final goods and services

produced within a country in a given period. GDP per capita is often considered an indicator of a countrys standard of living. In this report GDP composition has been presented using three main sectors: Agriculture Industry Service

1. Contribution Of Agriculture, Industries And Service Sector To GDP Of Bangladesh From Late 1950 To 2010 Sector Wise contribution to GDP in percentage:

The line representing contribution from agriculture is showing a decreasing growth rate during 1941-2011; agriculture sector contributed 70% of total GDP in 1950. Now agriculture sector has decreased to 18% in 2011. So, claiming Bangladesh an agro-based country will be contradictory to this data. However, the contribution percentage from both industry and services is increasing. In all these years, contribution from service sector almost doubled and contribution from industry sector increased a lot.

2. Sector-wise contribution to GDP (7 different countries) Sectorwise contribution to GDP of seven different countries have been presented below. Each country represents different economic condition. They are Developed country- USA Developing Country- Malaysia Middle-eastern country- UAE South Asian Country- Pakistan Least Developed Country- Mali Bangladesh China

From the graph, it can be seen that service contribution to GDP is the highest in USA which is almost 80%. For other countries, it is within a range between 40-60%. Industry contribution is the lowest in USA and highest in UAE. Agriculture contribution is the lowest in UAE which is less than 1% and a little bit more in USA. Some observations made from the graph are listed below: Data about USA GDP indicates that developed countries tend to focus more on service and less on agriculture. Malaysia (developing country) and China (emerging economic superpower) have similar composition in GDP. Middle Eastern country UAE relies almost equally on service and industry. Totally they constitute more than 99% of GDP. Two south Asian countries- Bangladesh and Pakistan have almost same composition of GDP. Contribution percentages from different sectors are almost equal.
