Teachers Comments: Ashton has grown in confidence this year. He takes on some roles of responsibility and is learning to use his time more wisely in the class to complete tasks to the best of his ability. Ashton has made good progress in all areas of his learning and understands how important it is to keep practising skills to improve them. He has learned how to use his website confidently and is able to share his work through his Eportfolio regularly. Ashton has a quiet demeanour which will be an asset to him when taking on leadership roles in 2013. Teacher name:Ginny Mitchell Teacher Signature:

READING
Assessment Results: (from E portfolio) Ashton has made good progress in his reading and is beginning to show confidence in answering questions regarding the texts he reads. He shares some personal experiences that relate to the text on occasions but needs to get involved in the wider discussion more. We will continue to work on getting deeper understanding from the text by reading between the lines and developing the skills to ask or share what he is thinking. How You Can Help at Home: Encourage reading for enjoyment. Visit the library regularly. Read to your child and listen to them read.

WRITING
Assessment Results: (from E portfolio)
Ashton has been working hard on improving his writing. He takes on advice and makes some changes. He needs to check his writing to make sure he is not repeating ideas or missing key words that make up sentences. Ashton is beginning to extend ideas in his writing but needs to clarify and use descriptive language to describe his thinking. We will work on this next year. Ashton has many personal experiences which when shared orally are interesting which needs to be transferred into his writing. Keep practicing spelling over the holidays Ashton and write down ideas you could share next year.

How You Can Help at Home:

Have writing equipment available for your child. Get your child to write about some special events or letters to relatives.

MATHEMATICS
Assessment Results: (from E portfolio) Ashton is working slightly above his age level for Maths and is showing some very good use of mathematical strategies when solving problems. He has continued to improve his basic facts knowledge but needs to speed up his response time. Ashton enjoys Maths and can share his thinking most of the time. Ashton has gained confidence in calculating problems on paper and is beginning to visualise the problem then solve it. Keep working on this Ashton. How You Can Help at Home: Take your child shopping and get them to add up what things will cost. Play maths games in the car. Practise Times tables with them.
