WORD BUILDING

Use these ideas for daily practice using your weekly word sorts.

Make as many words as possible from the vowel and consonant letters of the words from your list. Use the example below to set up your notebook.

IDEA # 1: letter
Use at least 3-5 of your words. in your letter to your parents this week. Write down which words you used in your notebook.

IDEA #2: nonsense story

Write a nonsense story. Use at least 15 of the words from your list. Circle the words when the story is complete. Remember to use the Story Checklist to make sure you have a complete story.

Write down any OUTLAW wordswords that dont fit patterns while you are working on word sorts. Reflect on the Outlaws crimes, and list the Outlaws Gang. Use the example below to set up your notebook.

IDEA #3: poem or tongue twister


Write a poem or a tongue twister using at least 3 of your words. Underline the words when your poem or tongue twister is finished.

IDEA #4: drawing or word puzzle

Cut the words out of a magazine or newspaper and make a collage. use at least 8 words.

IDEA #6: reflection


In your Work Diary reflection of the week, use at least 3 words. Circle the words when the reflection is complete.
