December 05, 2012 To Whom It May Concern,

It is my pleasure to write this letter of reference for Rhonda Lesperance. Currently, Rhonda is the middle school/high school head librarian at the American International School in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Rhondas responsibilities are to provide library and research services for the middle and high school as well as manage the library and its print and digital collections. She ensures that materials are current, accessible, appropriate, and available for our library community. Rhonda is highly motivated, forward thinking, and enthusiastic. She is unique and extremely talented with strong professional qualities. She is passionate about promoting literacy and enhancing our students love for reading. Among various reading initiatives this year, she has coordinated our Battle of the Books program with the middle school teachers. She has also held a Banned Book Week virtual read out, and hosted Spooky Read Alouds in the library. Rhonda works collaboratively with middle school and IBDP teachers to integrate technology and teach or co-teach research skills. Last summer she attended an IB Librarians workshop at United World College in New Mexico and is an IB Extended Essay supervisor. Rhonda works with the IB Coordinator to ensure that the library addresses IB students needs and guides their use, access, and evaluation of information. She reinforces our curriculum and educational departments by suggesting interdisciplinary materials for class units and has implemented digital ebooks and interactive resources for the library. Her goal as the head librarian is to empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. What impresses me most is that Rhonda is a role model for our students. She is an avid reader and shares her love of literature with them daily. In addition, Rhonda is a lifelong learner, and she continually seeks to learn and grow. She is familiar with library databases and integrated library automation systems. To keep current, Rhonda is active in professional organizations to include the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) and was asked to present at this years annual conference in Doha, Qatar. Because of her many talents, experience, and passion for education, I recommend Rhonda Lesperance for employment at your school. Please feel free to contact me for further support on her behalf. Yours sincerely, Jerri Myers Middle School Principal
