Food Pyramid

They say were growing fatter, As our days go waddling by, That its mind over matter, Pyramid diet we should try.

I have, as Uncle Sam wants, I thought it was working well, Behind me the mirror haunts And whats there makes me yell!

The Food Pyramid gospel for years, From those purported to know, Preaching to undiscriminating ears, We all thought it the way to go.

Each meal it wasnt our intention, For food pyramid to overflow, Yet we didnt pay much attention, When they said keep calories low,

Perhaps Atkins is on the right track, To invert Pyramid of USDA. Maybe reduce shape of my back, Lower the numbers when I weigh.

But real message is loud and repeating, If wed live a robust, healthy way, Well adopt attitude about our eating, That naturally keeps the fat away.

The ancient Egyptians built pyramids as tombs for the pharaohs and their queens. The pharaohs were buried in pyramids of many different shapes and sizes from before the beginning of the Old Kingdom to the end of the Middle Kingdom.

About Food Pyramids The food pyramid is formally known as the Improved American Food Guide Pyramid. It was published in 1992 by the United States Department of Agriculture. Basically, the food pyramid is an outline of what to eat each day based on six different food categories. The categories include grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, oils, and meat and beans. The pyramid is published every five years and an update is expected in 2010.
