The purpose of this document is to define the materials and application requirements for the exterior thermal insulation systems of piping and equipment operating above dew point and below 700oC, which are located above ground, either inside or outside of buildings on the Borouge Project. It is provided to the CONTRACTOR for the specification and definition of the COMPANYS minimum requirements for the WORKS. Any references to VENDOR define the requirements to be imposed on the VENDOR by the CONTRACTOR. The insulation systems specified herein are designed for: Controlling heat losses. Protecting personnel from hot surfaces. Minimising heat gain during fire conditions. The requirements stated in this specification shall not be applied to the following insulation systems: Insulation systems for surfaces operating above 700oC. Insulation systems for noise control. Insulation systems for underground surfaces. Exterior insulation systems for surfaces with temperatures at or below dew point (cold insulation systems); see Project Specification BGS-MN-004. Refractory systems and/or internal insulation systems for process piping and equipment. (Note: If any item with refractory or internal insulation requires exterior insulation for any specific reason, the requirements for such exterior insulation shall be the same as provided herein). Insulation systems for HVAC systems.
