Whats Happening?

Reading and Writing


This month we will read a story titled, Rocks in His Head. Students will practice identifying Fact and Opinion and inferencing during reading. Students will practice spelling (prefixes pre-, mid-, over-, out-) and vocabulary words during independent work time. Spelling lists can be found inside student binders and/or on the class blog. This month in writing we will practice persuasive essay writing as well as quick writing. Please continue to read Family Times (sent home at the beginning of each unit) to learn more about what were doing each week in Reading Street! Please Note: The Rocks in His Head Unit will not begin until April 15th due to PSSA.

Science and Social Studies


This month in Science we will conclude our unit of ecosystems. Students will participate in completing a group project and presenting it to the class. They will create murals of ecosystems that include living things in the ecosystem as well as what they need to survive. Later this month we will begin to study government. Students may review vocabulary and other important information in the science section of their binders.

April April is a rainbow month, Of sudden springtime showers. Bright with golden daffodils and lots of pretty flowers.

Math
This month in math we will study data analysis and probability. Students will learn new vocabulary including mean and mode. They will also participate in activities that allow them to collect and graph their own data.
