In a society where technology increases so much, so fast, the need to physically move around to accomplish the same daily tasks has vastly declined. The cheaper food is the unhealthy food

For elders, sometimes the weight gain is not from eating more but physically moving less.

As people age their metabolism slows down and losing weight becomes even more difficult and happens more slowly.

Elective weight loss surgeries on elderly have twice the risk of complications and have a much lower success rate
Often difficult to loose weight in a healthy way that doesn't make the elder become more frail
