How the courses of action can combine to produce the complex result 1. To establish and teach classroom rules

* Set up age appropriate rules which are necessary and clear. * Involve students to establish and demonstrate the rules. * Make student understand and follow the rules in Chinese language. * Show care and fair to every student. * Insist to rules by reinforcing appropriate behavior and correcting inappropriate behavior. * Teaching and learning keep moving on smoothly on the basis of rules.

To establish and teach class routines

* Set up class-running routines, lesson-running routines and interaction routines in different situations. * Explain and demonstrate the routines in effectively by following the I do - You do - We do model. * Make student understand and follow the routines in Chinese language. * Give students opportunities to practice the routines. * Take students feedback into consideration to perfect the routines.

To motivate students to learn

* Provide students a safe and accepted classroom environment. * Show teachers respect to their culture and encourage students to show the respect as well. * Show teachers clear expectations for students and facilitate them to establish individually reasonable goals.

* Provide different tasks for students to choose. * Respond to students improvement positively and in time. * Encourage students to respond actively and interact with peers. * Relate learning content to students own life and interest. * Model interest in learning and express enthusiasm.

To build relationships with students

* Be welcoming * Be sensitive to students concerns * Be fair to every student. * Be a real person (not just a teacher) * Search for students strengths and interest. * Know students individually both in and outside of classroom. * Respond to students feedback in time. * Encourage students to communicate with teacher.

To build relationships among students

* Set up a caring model for student and provide them a caring environment. * Model and recognize prosocial behavior * Provide students opportunities to know each other. * Organize interactive activities. * Develop students perspective taking stills. * Use cooperative learning groups.

To respond to students positive and negative behaviors.

* Set up reward and punishment systems. * Use non-verbal, verbal, I-message and material rewards as response to students good behavior. * Use non-verbal, verbal, I-message, consequence as response to students misbehavior appropriately. * seek assistance from the consolers or office. * Involve parents for both positive and negative behaviors in time.

To extend opportunity to all students

* Know students (backgrounds, strength, special needs, and etc.) * Provide different goals for students. * Provide different assignments for students in different levels. * Respect various learning styles by taking different teaching strategies. * Seek assistance from the consolers or office for students who have special needs.

To involve family

* Respect all the families. * Notice family what is going on in the classroom by newsletters, emails, and updating online portfolio. * Participate in regular teacher-parent conference and well prepared. * Clear parents my expectations for them and their children. Know parents expectations for teacher.

* Provide family opportunities to learn basic Chinese culture and language. * Organize activities for interaction between parents and students.
