ABSTRACT

Over the past century, manufacturing sectors play an important role to the economic development of a country. Nowadays new machine tools, high-performance cutting tools, and modern manufacturing processes enable today s industries to produce parts faster and better than ever before. The engineering production economy trend is improving manufacturing operations and eliminating undesirable effects. Productivity is of great importance in the overall production time. This can be reduced by introducing more efficient fixtures, and automating the clamping process. Increase in productivity and reduction in production costs can be achieved by reducing total production time. Reduction in total production time can be achieved by shortening the main production time (cutting time), or secondary production time (time for clamping and positioning of workpieces). Main production time is not always possible to truncate. Therefore ,we focus on reducing secondary production times. .This project focuses on fixture design and fabricate the and fixture for P.T.O clutch cover used in Piaggio. The report consist introduction of fixtures, problem statement from production line at Swagati Engineering,Aurangabad. Based on problem, fixture can be designed. This report also consists the important definition of fixture, type of fixtures and in addition this report consider the previous research in fixture field as reference in design and develop this and fixture. Other than that, materials also discuss in this report to fabricate the jig and fixture, Choosing the right material can improve the fixture strength and

repeatability in work. Starting with identifying the characteristics of the product and the working concept, we proceed towards sketching ,design and fabrication of the fixture,

depending on the parameter of part, machine and processes involve in making the fixture..
The project aims to achieve the optimum utilisation of existing VMC capacity by improving the fixture design,optimizing the lot size, improving the process parameters and thus improving the productivity of the machining process.The fundamental tools for improving a process is done by identification of root causes with the help of analysis ,and related process failure modes and prevents wastes,rework, reduce cycle time and cost . The productivity improvement resulted in a cost benefit of Rs. per month.We conclude that it has led to significant improvements in process efficiency.
