Introduction a. Blake Woods, an interior designer since 1992, believes that design has a profound impact on mood and purpose in environments. Every day, Woods pushes the limits of design. He never settles for anything less than the best he can do. He strives for complete trust and honesty in his relationships with customers and his clients love him for it. Many have told about the life changing moments that have happened in their life because of his design. He changes lives for the better and helps improve others. To me, its inspiring and a wonderful opportunity to change the environment around for the better. b. Chose career because of: creative and artistic freedom c. Definition: a person who specializes in designing architectural interiors and their furnishings d. Thesis: Becoming a successful interior designer will take a tough education process, a lot of personality and characteristic traits building, and perseverance. 2. Education and Training a. Minimum: 2 year Certificate in Interior Design b. Maximum: Masters in Interior Design c. Where Educated: Specialty trade schools, college, on the job d. Entrance Requirements: High school diploma

3. Job Skills, Talents and Experience a. Special Skills, talents, personality traits: patience, artistic, creative, being knowledgeable in the history of art and having an eye for color, spacing and sizing b. Where to gain experience: Internship with firms or business, school c. Ways I am suited for this career: Im a very creative person and I have a good eye for colors and spacing and Im pretty good at problem solving and being precise and accurate. I can visualize set ups and different designs and color matches and how they would fit together and complement each other. d. Personality and skills that will benefit me in this career: Im very outgoing and hands-on. I love and enjoy doing anything with my hands and I like putting things together so they fit perfectly like a puzzle. 4. Earnings a. Standard beginning wage: between $31,777 and $39,860 b. In this area: $58,695 on average c. Elsewhere: in NY- $65,000 d. Maximum salary to expect: $84,900 on average e. Factors that affect salary range: performance, customer reviews/comments, performance and area of employment f. Start-Up expenses: Depends on how one starts out in this career field

Prospect for Employment: Difficult if one hasnt been in the business long c. Demand: Quickly growing d. Job upon graduation: Not as likely as one who has experience or who worked in an internship or something similar before applying e. Factors influencing job availability: area of employment, demand in the area, city projects, need of buildings/houses f. Growth prospect: This job isnt going anywhere. Its demand continues to grow

g. Adaptation to change: Technology will definitely be a big part in the future as well as the sheer size that some buildings will require. 6. Benefits and Health Factors a. Available health benefits: Health/life insurance b. Health and safety issues: High stress, carpal tunnel, items falling on me, hearing loss, vision impairment, falling, poisoning, falling, choking, burning, suffocating and lung problems c. Other included benefits: paid holidays and vacations, health insurance, and pension plans 7. Typical Day a. Typical day: Show up to work, look over clients one will be doing projects for, get the supplies needed for the day, work, take care of financials if need be, go home. b. Work environment: Indoors, outdoors, in an office. Depends on what needs to get done and what kind of project is being worked on c. Usual hours: 8 hour days, 5 days a week- 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Personality traits/skills: creative, artistic, determined, motivated, visional, hard worker, organized, precise b. Real life experiences: In charge of prom and decorating and setting it up c. Important info: earnings take a couple years to build up to match the cost of living, having fun and staying relax will help the job run more smoothly and not be as stressful d. Pursuing this career: I think this career would be fun to pursue, but I dont think I would stick with it. Customers can become extremely picky and I dont think Id be able to have the patience to deal with them. It would really fun and entertaining though and I would love to be able to style peoples environments to fit their lifestyles and help them feel comfortable. Id be willing to go to school for it and do the job.
