QUICK MOCK RIBBED ASCOT

Finished measurements: Approximately 5” x 36”

MATERIALS
Bulky weight wool (I used MODA DEA Tweedle Dee), approximately
100 yards
Knitting needles, size 11 (8 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
1 ½” -2” Button

GAUGE: In pattern, 15 sts = 5”

BODY
Cast on 15 sts loosely.
Row 1: Slip 1 as if to knit, K1, purl across to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 2 (Right side): Slip 1 as if to knit, K2, P1, (K1, P1) across to last 3 sts,
K3.
Note: Mark Row 2 as right side.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures approximately 7 “ from cast on
edge, ending by working pattern Row 2.
Buttonhole Row: Slip 1 as if to knit, P4, P2 tog, YO twice (see Note
below), purl across to last 2 sts, K2.
Note: Double YO (YO twice) is used to make a larger buttonhole. When
working next row, work double YO as if it is only one YO, allowing extra
YO loop to drop off. If you are NOT using a button that is 1 ½ or 2” , just do
a single YO.
Beginning with pattern Row 2, repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures
approximately 36” or desired length, ending by working pattern Row 1.
Bind off sts loosely in knit.
Sew Button to center of opposite end 7” from bound off edge.
Weave in yarn ends.
