Muscat, 4 May 2009 This 1st of May, MUSANDAM ROCK LLC, set in Khasab (Sultanate of Oman), has loaded its third shipment of industrial limestone for steel industry. Last April, the customer ESSAR STEEL set up in Hazira, Gujrat region (India) already received two other shipments of low silica limestone from MUSANDAM ROCK LLC quarry. The mineral concession in Musandam represents in excess of 300 million of exploitable limestone suitable for uses as aggregates for ready mixed concrete, materials for marine engineering and commodity for steel industry and lime production. This quarry was opened in 2006, by CFE ROCK (Luxembourg) and its partner in Oman, AL RAWASSI AL SHAMALIA. MUSANDAM ROCK LLC has supplied three millions tonnes of armour stones to the gas terminal project of QATAR PETROLEUM in Ras Laffan (Qatar) since 2006 and has been developing a new crushing and screening plant with a capacity of 300 tonnes per hour. Moreover its outstanding mineral reserves, another industrial asset has been developed with the new maritime terminal, which enables exports of limestone products. Indeed, in the short run, MUSANDAM ROCK LLC will be loading simultaneously, two flat barges for armour stones to deliver to marine engineering projects within the Gulf Area, one seagoing bulk carrier with deadweight of 10,000 tonnes for aggregates to delivered to coastal cities of the region and one large bulk carrier with deadweight of 80,000 tonnes for industrial limestone products to deliver to India. As it combines a large mineral body of well-demanded quality limestone and efficient maritime logistics, this new quarry is relevant in this part of the world, which keeps a strong potential of economic development.
