Level 7 BTEC Professional Diploma in Management Studies Unit 19: Quality and Systems Management Assignment 1 Quality and Systems Management Purpose The purpose of this assignment is to provide a framework within which the learner can: Evaluate the strategic objectives of operations management within the organisation Design and monitor appropriate systems to ensure quality of product and services Improve organisational performance Scenario You work for an organisation which provides consultancy to businesses wanting to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their operational systems. You have been asked to work with this organization to review and evaluate the management of their quality and systems. You can use your own organization, or an organization you are familiar with. You will need to select and explain the problem to be examined, and the importance of the objectives and culture of the organization to the problem. You are expected to draw on course material and concepts where appropriate. TASK 1 Prepare a 15 minute presentation which evaluates the role of the operations management in the organisation. The presentation should be supported by copies of presenter notes/slides/handouts used. You will need to plan the improvement activity and measure the improvement gained. In order to help you do this you will have to design and monitor appropriate systems to ensure quality is met. You should find it helpful to draw a cause-effect diagram of the problem, then try and identify the frequency.
