In this talk we will provide an overview of Automatic Transmission Fluids starting from crude extraction through to finished fluids and answer questions like: What is base oil? Where do the additives come from? Is there a difference between mineral and synthetics? In addition we will explore how the continuing evolution of transmission hardware changes the formulation and requirements for fluid.

This presentation will focus on aftermarket filters for automatic transmissions that do not necessarily meet the OE requirements, as they claim. The features and benefits of OE filtration products will be explained and discussed. Focus will identify low quality replacement aftermarket filters that do not meet the OE requirements and pose significant failure conditions. The newest patented OE filtration systems used in recent applications will also be reviewed with attention to the important features which provide the clean oil required for transmission operation.

Covering current repair cause diagnosis and repair jobs in the shop today will cover scan tool and diagnostic aids and their relationship to trouble codes.
Many hybrid transaxle faults can be isolated quickly and accurately, without special tools. In this seminar, well practice diagnosing such issues as well as more complex issues, using actual failures. Students will learn about scan data, shudder tests, mechanical issues, and motor testing, as well as some of the specialized tests unique to hybrid transaxles. Well present case studies of hybrid transaxle faults that have been correctly diagnosed and repaired by shops around the country.

The 6T70 family of transaxles represents one of the most widely used transmission in the world today. The 6T70 applications have undergone massive changes for the 2013 model year. In this session, we will explore which models were updated, what the updates are, as well as the interchange issues with those changes. In addition we will explore the current product issues for the 6T70/75 applications.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seating is limited by room size. Seminars start promptly at their scheduled time. Arrive early to be sure of good seating, and to meet with instructors and other seminar attendees. Recording is not permitted.
