Five loaves (mathematical part) By Mihnea tefan Vonica

The first traveler has 2 loaves. The second has 3 loaves. The third traveler hasnt any loaf. The first two travelers decided to share the five loaves with the third traveler in equal parts. The third man gives them 5 lei. How much money has to receive each of the first two travelers? Solution: I: 2 loaves II: 3 loaves III: 5 lei They eat equal parts: I=II=III=(2+3)/3=5/3 (loaves)

I: 2 5/3 = (6-5)/3 = 1/3 (loaves) gave to III, and received x lei from III II: 3 5/3 = (9-5)/3 = 4/3 (loaves) gave to III, and received y lei from III III: 1/3+4/3=5/3 (loaves) received and gave 5 lei to I and II I: 5/3 loaves . 5 lei 1/3 loaves . x lei (5/3) / (1/3) = 5/x (5/3) * (3/1) = 5/x (5/1) = 5/x II:

x = 1 leu

5/3 loaves . 5 lei 4/3 loaves . y lei (5/3) / (4/3) = 5/y (5/3) * (3/4) = 5/y (5/4) = 5/y

y = 4 lei
