Brief 3

Background
Form and writing is a collective of 3 designers with a mutal interest in typography (Joe Warburton, Yafet Bisrat, Max Gregory). A continuation of a previous brief, we have decided to further extend the project by each creating a typeface and accompanying print collateral.

Lucid typeface
Lucid is a clean, refined and comprehensive font design with subtle, unique characteristics that differentiates itself from other sans-serif font designs. Initially devised for the branding of a fashion designer, the font has since become a legible and stripped-back typeface, ideal for large amounts of copy.

Specimen
We each devised our own type specimen publication using a consistent format with certain variables each cover design is different yet the placement of the type is the same. Within the content, each page features a letterform in alphabetical order, aside from the centre double-page spread with a unique pangram and the final double-page spread.

Other collateral
Aside from the publication, we each devised a set of A3 and A2 poster designs. Each of the A3 fold-out posters featured an obscure or unintelligble word that ensured primary focus on the letterforms themselves. These were accompanied by individual A2 poster designs and a set of notebook designs using offcuts of other prints that featured the typeface.

Panoply
All of the print collateral excluding the notebooks were housed in a slip cover to ensure the fonts were collated under the Form and writing brand. We entitled this Panoply as a continuation of the obscure and unusual choice of words within the prints Panoply essentially means " A complete or impressive collection of things" which we believed was a fitting name.
