Quilt Square Counting

For the letter Q, we talk about quilts. I bring in some

quilts from home to sit with in the book corner. We talk
about how to make quilts and how they are similar and
different to other blankets.

I cut various scraps into 2” squares for quilt squares. At

counting, they can choose to count the number of quilt
squares out that are indicated on the page. They can
do all one color or make a pattern with colors. I am
always sure to comment on their patterning and choice
of quilt layout. Counting and creativity go hand in
hand!
