Syllabus: short course

Geophysics for non-Geophysicists


Objectives:
To understand the basic of seismology and other geophysical disciplines and to know how they fit into the oil and gas value chain.

Short course contents:


The short course will cover the following subjects: Session 1 Session 3 Introduction Seismic Processing data The focus of Oil & Gas Upstream Introduction of Seismic Processing Industry data Basics of Prospecting: Petroleum Overview of Basic Seismic System Processing Workflow Wide range of Geophysical Methods & Types of Data Session 2 Seismic Acquisition Introduction of Geophysical Methods The Seismic Method Seismic Reflection & Acquisition Session 4 Seismic Interpretation & Reservoir Geophysics Overview of Seismic & Geology Basic Structure Analysis & Prospect Evaluation Introduction of Quantitative Seismic Interpretation

Time and Venue:


First Batch, on Monday, 10 December 2012; Second Batch, on Thursday, 13 December 2012; Venue: to be announced (on 26th or 27th floor of Cyber 2); Refreshments and lunch will be provided 08.00 16.00 hours; 08.00 16.00 hours;

Who should participate?


Geologists, Engineers and other Samudra Energy / Business Unit engineers or professionals who might need more knowledge about geophysics, in order to better communicate with fellow geophysicists. (max. participants per class per batch is 15 persons)
