Engineering Drawing Approval Process

The Subdivision Authority approves the proposed subdivision or a development officer approves the proposed development and imposes servicing requirements. The consultant on behalf of the developer submits 16 complete sets of engineering drawings and a CD with the engineering drawings in PDF format to Development Coordination.

The drawings are circulated to the various departments, EPCOR and external agencies for review as follows: 1 set to Planning & Development 6 sets to the Transportation Department 3 sets to Asset Management and Public Works Drainage Services 2 sets EPCOR Water 1 set each to EPCOR Distribution, Parks, ATCO and Telus

Comments are received by Development Coordination as well as the consultant for revisions to the engineering drawings. Negotiations on items to be included on the drawings are concluded. Revised sets of engineering drawings are resubmitted directly to each department or agency for a subsequent review

Note: In order for construction to begin, the servicing agreement must be signed and sealed by the developer, applicable fees must be paid and the letter of credit and certificate of insurance must be submitted in addition to the approval of drawings.

Drawings are approved. Each department and agency submits a Drawing Approval Form received from the consultant to Development Coordination as well as a copy back to the consultant

The consultant sends the mylars directly to Development Coordination where they are signed on behalf of the City departments and EPCOR.

The approved engineering drawings are returned to the consultant to make the required paper and/or electronic copies for each City department, EPCOR and external agencies.

Construction of municipal improvements may now commence.
