Ecological Footprint

Part I:
1. No I don’t think that it is fair for the United States to take up such a high
percentage of the earth’s resources.
2. They think we hog all of the resources and they are suffering and starving because
of consumption patterns.
3. My trash goes out to the “dump” I don’t think I generate 5 pounds of trash every
day. I recycle anything that can be, and I don’t use many things that need to be
thrown away everyday.
4. Yes I recycle at home and at school. When I am at other places it is many times
harder to so because it is not so obvious where their recycling bins are.

Part II:
4. I would have to move to a smaller house with more people in it as well as stop
eating meat.
5. An ecological footprint is if everyone on the earth were to live the same way you
do including traveling as much as you do and eating what you do then it show
how many planets we would need to support all of us. I think a footprint is an
appropriate method for judging our impact on the earth because it shows how
much we consume and how if everyone was like us we could not all live here.
6. This activity really struck home to me, it showed that if everyone were to live the
way I do, we would need 11 planets. The questions seemed to be pretty basic and
the rights ones to judge how much a person consumes resources.
7. I am surprised that the website didn’t ask any questions about recycling.

Barrels. The amount of oil spilled in Alaska is about as much as the amount that the
combined families of CV and CHS students use per year. While this is not an
overwhelming amount spilled it is enough to cause concerns and for us to be wasting our
nonrenewable resources.
