Bahrain Petroleum Company BSC (c)
(BAPCO), wholly owned by the Govern-
ment of Bahrain, is engaged in the oil indus-
try including exploration and prospecting
for oil, drilling, production, refining, distri-
bution of petroleum products and natural
gas, sales and exports of crude oil and refined
products. The vertically integrated company’s
refineries contain 170 storage tanks and pro-
duce up to 270,800 barrels of oil per day. The
company operates a chain of 17 gas stations
across Bahrain under its brand, Al Seef Ser-
vice Station and plans to set up 40 additional
local gas stations by 2018. BAPCO exports
95 per cent of its crude and refined petro-
leum products to the Middle East, India, the
Far East, South East Asia and Africa.

requirements to ensure that quality standards
are met on a consistent basis at every stage
throughout the manufacturing process.
The company also supplies aviation
fuel to the Bahrain International Airport,
through its subsidiary, the Bahrain Aviation
Fueling Company (BAFCO).
In June 2008, BAPCO announced it
would establish the Bahrain Base Oil Com-
pany, through a joint venture with Finland-
based Neste Oil. When production begins
in 2011, the BD150.8 mn (US$401.9 mn)
company will generate an annual capacity of
400,000 tonnes of petroleum by-products.
BAPCO carries out extensive studies on
a continuous basis to explore - with the use
of advanced techniques and methods - new
oil and gas reserves and obtain more accu-
rate data on the existing reserves.
