Introduction
Man as a moral being is capable of knowing what is right and wrong. Morality comes from the Latin word moralis, which means custom or manner.
Mans actions are morally good if they agree with Gods will, and they are morally bad if they disagree with it. (Peschke, 1975)
To understand the moral dimension of the human person, we have to understand some moral principles that affect our moral behavior. Morality deals with Freedom, Law, Conscience and Sin.
Freedom
Man is free. For us to be able to exercise our freedom to the fullest, we have to understand the true meaning of freedom. Though man is not absolutely free, he is to a certain degree free.
Discuss instances in your life when you felt less and more free. Use the freedom table. Come up with a symbol that will capsulate your discussion. Present and explain the meaning of the symbol to the class
Each member will draw a symbol that best describes FREEDOM. Share the meaning of your symbol.
What do you feel when you cannot do the things that you want to do? When do you say a person is free? Why?
What is the value of being free? What do we mean when we say The truth will set us free? What is the connection between freedom and truth?
