MICKEY MOUSE

Mickey Mouse is one of the most famous cartoon characters in the world and the mascot of The Walt Disney Company. He is a funny animal cartoon character created in 1928 by Walt Disney at the Walt Disney Studios at California, USA. He is usually seen as an ever cheerful, yet shy a man-like mouse, wearing red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves. He first appeared in a sound cartoon Steamboat Willie in November 1928. After that he has appeared in more than130 films. Most of them are short films, but some feature-length films. Until 1935, the films were in black and white but later they became colour. In 1942 his colour film Lend a Paw, won the Oscar Award for Best Animated Short Film award. In 1978, Mickey became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Beginning 1930, Mickey has also been featured extensively as a comic strip character in news papers, magazines etc. One of these news paper strips ran for 45 years. Mickey has also appeared in comic books and in childrens television series such as The Mickey Mouse Club from 1955 onwards. He also appears in other media such as video games. Mickey typically appears alongside his girlfriend Minnie Mouse. His pet dog Pluto and friends Horace Horsecollar, Donald Duck, and Goofy, and rival Pete are also interesting characters. His picture is being widely used in the advertisements of childrens articles such as toys, watches, tee shirts etc. He is also a crowd puller in Disney lands and other childrens parks throughout the world.
