8th Grade Pre-Algebra Syllabus SY 13-14

Ms. Betsy Diaz|202.713.5405|bdiaz@paulcharter.org E2= Excellence Every day Welcome to Ms. Diazs Pre-Algebra class! I am very excited for the start of this school year. We had 88% of the 8th grade class last year score proficient or advanced on the DC-CAS, and we are pushing for a higher percentage for this school year! Our theme this year is E2= Excellence Every day. I am aware that math is not everyones favorite subject, but the reality is that math applies to every day life and middle school math sets the foundation for high school math. My goal is to provide you with the support you need to learn and to help you apply those skills. My overall goals for you tie in with our school theme and encompass:

Academics: the data shows that we are reaching our mastery goal of 90% Character: persevere through problems even though they may seem challenging at first. Community: be open-minded, you have knowledge you can share with your peers, your peers have knowledge they can share with you, and teacher and parents will be able to reach and communicate with each other.
