Principal Charmaine Murray As Sans Souci is a smaller school for girls (presently 406 pupils), it prides itself on knowing each girl individually, thus making it possible to foster the kinds of relationships which are so necessary for optimal development during the high school phase. The Principal and School Governing Body believe in quality education and have consciously embarked on an active policy to ensure that this is achieved. Our girls enjoy the benefits of being taught in smaller classes, receiving the personal attention of highly skilled and dedicated teachers.
Sans Souci believes that dreams can be achieved and thus develops each girl holistically to achieve her potential and to become an accountable and responsible adult. To this end, Sans Souci Girls High School is committed to the advancement of learning, personal development and responsible citizenship. Sans Souci Girls High School prides itself on academic excellence which is reflected in the consistently high results achieved in the Final Matriculation Examination each year. An example of this is the excellent results attained by the 2012 Matriculants a 100% Matric pass rate (93.5% Bachelor Passes and 6.5% Diploma Passes) and high subject averages. A Core Academic Support and Enrichment Programme is offered by the school in the afternoons to assist pupils who require additional support. The Extramural, Intra- and Co-Curricular Programmes allow every girl the opportunity to develop necessary and useful skills and in this way reach her potential. Professional coaches are used. We participate in League Fixtures, Competitions, Eisteddfods, Olympiads, and other provincial and national competitions and activities. SPORT: Tennis, Softball, Netball, Hockey and Swimming. CULTURAL: Oratory (Public Speaking, Debating, Forum), Music, Art, Drama and Chess. SOCIETIES: One-Way Christian Union, Interact, Muslim Students Association, Green Girls, History and Art (run by the girls themselves and guided by Teachers). Sans Souci is well known for its Visual and Performing Arts: Art, Drama and Music o Our ART Department participates in competitions and exhibitions. o Our DRAMA Department is vibrant and active and has received much acclaim in Eisteddfods and Competitions. o Our MUSIC Department has gained the reputation of being outstanding. We offer tuition in Woodwind, Brass, Piano, Violin, Percussion and Voice. Apart from the Orchestra, Jazz Cats and Choir, there is also Chamber Music played by Brass, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone and combined Ensembles. Pupils are entered into Eisteddfods and external examinations (Unisa, Royal Schools and Trinity) that have international recognition.

An integrated LIFE-SKILLS PROGRAMME forms part of the curriculum from Grade 8 through to 12. Leadership skills are developed wherever possible. Pupils on the Representative Council (RCL) are actively involved in school management processes, maintaining discipline, supporting senior pupils, prefects, teachers and the Schools Governing Body.
