The engine has a safety system to protect the engine against abnormal operating condition. The alarm and auto stop will be active electronically according to the predetermined abnormal operating conditions. See separated manual for automation system. Besides electronic automation system, a mechanical fuel limiter is installed on the engine to avoid excessive fuel injected into cylinders. The fuel limiter is installed near the governor and limits rotation of the lever on fuel control shaft against two cases as below; 1. Over load fuel limiter When fuel control lever rotates toward maximum fuel rack position by governor or manual lever, the movement will be limited by piston as shown in fig4. The limit values can be adjusted by the stopper, which should be set to the index value of the fuel racks corresponding to lower than 110% load.

2. Starting fuel limiter During starting period, the turbocharger is out of normal operation and therefore diesel engine is always in the incomplete combustion due to lack of air, which results in heavy smoke. Digital governors have fuel limiting function for starting, while hydraulic governor normally has not. However, the engine has adjustable fuel limiter for starting period regardless of the governor type. The fuel limiter piston for over load is also used for starting limiter to avoid excessive fuel injected into cylinder during starting period to avoid heavy smoke. During starting period, the engine automation system activate starting solenoid valve to supply compressed air to push the fuel limiter piston as shown in fig 5. The limiting position can be adjusted by guide when loosening locking screw. Be sure to lock the locking screw after adjustment.
