Banking is the way to go


Jayaprakash Gandhi spoke of the diverse career opportunities in a counselling session at VIT, Vellore.

The banking industry is to give more job opportunities next to the information technology industry, the career consultant Jayaprakash Gandhi has said. Mr. Gandhi was speaking at The Hindu EducationPlus career counselling held at VIT, Vellore recently. Listing several non-engineering courses that have rich employability potential, he said those who pursued BA (Economics) in certain colleges in Chennai got campus placements in banks. Corporates such as Gold Smith, Royal Bank of Scotland and Google offer high pay packages to economics graduates. My son who studied Economics in Loyola College got placed with Google with a pay package of Rs.5.25 lakh, he said. He cited some of the tests conducted for getting admission into non-engineering courses: The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for admission in National Law Universities; National Aptitude Test for Architecture (NATA); and Joint Admission Test for for admission to M.Sc. courses in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
