Pre-Algebra A
Welcome to Pre-A. Classes will involve taking notes, discussion, writing, group and partner activities, openers, presentations, investigations, daily classwork, assessments, and homework (yes, homework!).

Policies and Procedures

Assignments Classwork and homework will be assigned daily. To be successful in this class, students MUST complete ALL homework assignments. Students are expected to check answers and make corrections to their homework the next class period. Homework will be checked daily for completeness. All work MUST be shown in order to receive credit for the homework. Reassessment 1. To reassess, all homework for that unit must be completed and turned in before the test. 2. You have 2 weeks from when the test/quiz grade is posted to complete test corrections, meet for review, and to reassess. 3. To reassess, a 24hr notice is required. Retakes are done outside of regular class-time. 4. No retakes permitted on mid-term or final exams. Testing Time Students must complete assessments within the allotted time period unless extra time is specified on an IEP. Late Work Hard Deadline: Late work will only be accepted on major projects or assessments. (See Core policies for Stone Creek Charter Upper School) Tardies As per school policy with the following extras: 1 tardy meeting with student. 2 tardies = phone call home. Notes posted in PowerSchool Electronic Devices Cell phones, iPods, mp3s, etc. are NOT permitted in class. Academic Integrity Cheating will not be tolerated. All parties involved will be referred to school administration and face disciplinary action. Extra Credit It will be at most 1-2% of your final grade.

Standards for Mathematical Practice

Make sense of problems & persevere in solving them. Reason abstractly & quantitatively. Construct viable arguments & critique the reasoning of others. Model with mathematics. Use appropriate tools strategically. Attend to precision. Look for and make use of structure. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

GRADING SCALE
Assessments, Projects, and Notebook: Homework: Classwork: Warm-ups: approx 75% approx 10% approx 10% approx 5%

Mid-Term and Final Exams: Get averaged in with assessments, projects, and notebook Zeros and Fs on assessments will not be tolerated; Students are required to eliminate any zeros and follow through on re-taking if they failed to master a concept.
