Object & value of the Preamble:
1. Sets down origin & purpose of the
Constitution
 a. Tells us who the authors are
 b. States the general purposes to be
achieved by the
Preamble
Source of Constitution’s authority:
1. the Filipino people
2. a sovereign people
Belief in God stressed
National purposes & aims in adopting the
Constitution:
1. to build a just & humane society
2. to establish a government that shall:
a. Embody our ideals & principles

b. promote the common good
c. conserve & develop our patrimony
d. Secure to ourselves & our posterity the
blessings of independence & democracy under
a rule of law & a regime of truth, justice
freedom, love, equality, & peace

Preamble
Changes in the Preamble:
1. Preamble consisting of 75 words; 15 words more
than the 1973 Constitution
2. The phrase “ Almighty God replaced by “Divine
Providence”
3. Insertions of the following words & phrases:
a.to build a just & humane society
b. the rule of law
c. aspirations d. truth
4. Independence changed to democracy
5. Peace & equality inserted in the 1973
constitution
